Using a 6 Cyl. K-member with a small block Ford engine
This is the Fox Chassis stock motor mount for a V-8 K-member (4 cyl. and 8 cyl. k-members are the same) This mount will not work with the 6 cyl. K-member.
This is the mount you need for the 6 cyl. k-member / v-8 swap.
These are the key to make the V-8 to fit in the 6 Cyl. K-member. Look for these at any bone yard and auto parts store.
This probly how your car looks with the 6 cyl. engine in its place. One picture shows where to cut the flange off at about 4 1/2" to 5". Don't cut too much off.
Another picture has the end of the tape measure pointing at the new hole you will bolt your F-150 motor mount in. This hole you may want to slot it on both sides of the K-member up-wards to help mate the V-8 with F-150 mounts to the 6 cyl. K-member.

This is a look at the two K-members in a Fox Chassis car. The red K-member is a V-8 or 4 cyl. K-member. The dirty white or tan is a 6 cyl. K-member.
This is another option you can go with. A tubular K-member can be a huge advantage. Gives you not only a v-8 swap easy, but ton's of room for everything ( headers) , weight reduction. performance, strength, and options for all your custom needs. This is a complete kit from QA1 with coil over struts, adjustable caster/camber plates, and tubular A-arms.
Also picture here is '98 Mustang GT (SN95 chassis) front spindles, rotors, calipers, and front sway bar. These are an option that do work but you will have some mod's to perform to use them. Compared to a Fox chassis, the sway bar mounts to the frame are relocated directly under the frame rails. The spindles require the same matching year ball joints (your stock ball joints do not fit) and the brake lines differ.

The green Tape on the K-member flange shows you where to cut to make room for the oil filter. If you use a remote oil filter...then no need to cut the flange. Some guys have done the same cut on both sides to balance the look, but not required.
Here is the very first V-8 in a Fox Chassis Car with a 6 cyl. K-member in 1990.
More Things You Will Need For You V-8 Swap
1.You need to choose the K-member you want to set your power house on.
There are 4 cyl. / 8 cyl. K-members(they are the same)and there is the 6 cyl. K-member.Another choice is an after market "Tubular" K-members from many companies for Mustangs.
2.You need a larger radiator with the fan shrout.(Unless you use an electric fan then you don't need the shrout)
3.You need a throttle cable from a "Fox Chassis" car with a V-8.This cable is shorter and will fit better. The 6 cyl. cable can bind up and stick.
4.Use stock radiator hoses for a V-8 Mustang.
5.You need a rear sump pan and pick-up tube, also called a "Double Hump Pan."(Note:302 pan is not the same as a 351W pan)
6.The trany!!! If you use a C-4,it will be easy. You need the correct bell housing, tork converter and fly wheel. The rear mount for the trany is fine, butt if you want dual exhaust you need a two hump cross member for your trany and are found on Stangs.
The drive shaft and rear end is fine and will work well....if you plan on alot of power you will need to get a better rear end.Get an 8.8 from a Stang or other Fox cars. You can have possi that way ,too.
7.The front coil springs should be changed out for the V-8 whieght.Though the 6 cyl. springs will work. They drop the nose of the car about an inch or two.The sway bars should be swapped out ,too. There again, the 6 cyl. sway bar will work. The Stang has a larger dia. sway bar for better handling.
8.Exhaust!!! Use Mustang parts here up to the rear end, then it is all custom. If you don't want duals then get everything for a '78 Fairmont with a 302.
